This research aims to analyze the use of artificial intelligence (AI)-based chatbots, such as ChatGPT, as a virtual assistant in online learning. AI technology is rapidly advancing and holds great potential in improving the quality of education, especially in the context of distance learning. AI chatbots serve as tools to provide quick responses, interactive explanations, and support students' understanding of concepts and their independent learning. Through a comprehensive literature study, this research explores various studies related to the use of AI chatbots in education, both at the student and university level. Several findings indicate that chatbots can enhance learning motivation, accelerate the understanding of material, and help students access information anytime and anywhere. Additionally, AI chatbots have proven effective in increasing student engagement in online learning processes. The results of this study are expected to provide deeper insights into the benefits and challenges of using AI chatbots in education, as well as offer recommendations for their future integration.Keywords: AI Chatbot, Online Learning, Virtual Assistant
